What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Your current referral 

Your completed patient detail form 

A list of any medications and eye drops that you are currently taking

Reading and distance glasses and sunglasses

How long will my appointment take?

You should allow a minimum of 2 hours for your appointment and for any diagnostic tests that may be required on the day.

Will my eyes be dilated?

Upon arrival staff will instill dilating drops into your eyes and as a result your vision will be temporarily blurry and sensitive to glare.

Can I drive after my appointment?

It is recommended that you do not drive after your appointment until your vision returns to normal (for some patient’s pupils may remain dilated until the following day). 

Do I need a referral?

A current referral is necessary to obtain your medicare rebate. If you do not have a referral you can be seen at the clinic but you will have to pay for your visit in full.

A referral from a GP or Optometrist is valid for 12 months and a Specialist referral is valid for 3 months 

Can I bring someone with me to the appointment?

Yes you can but due to limited space it is recommended that you only bring one support person

Do I need to remove contact lenses?

Yes your contact lenses will need to be removed and if possible please wear your glasses to your appointment. 

What about parking and public transport?

There is limited on street parking.

Wilson Carpark on Bartley Street (beside Watkins Medical Centre) offers affordable parking and is the closest carpark to the clinic.

The closest railway station is Central Station (approx. 10 minute walk).

There are bus stops close to the clinic.
